Assignment 6 - Ted Talks

What was the topic and argument of the presentation?
The argument that kids should learn how to code.  Today kids learn to interact with technology but they don't know how to create them.  The presenter uses the terminology that people can read but can't write.

How were visual or other props used in the presentation?
Visuals were used to demonstrate and show how people are creating programs to help make it more interactive for kids to learn the coding process and they can get a quicker satisfactions of what comes out of coding.

Was it effective?
I think the presenter was very effective. I might be a little bias because I believe coding is not just creating a program, but it helps teach people to think for themselves.  I believe so much that I have started working a little with my fifth grader.

Were questions asked?
The presenter asked his own questions and answered them for the audience.  I thought this was a good strategy because I would be thinking of the same questions and he would answer them throughout the presentation.  It made it feel like the presentation was in front of me and tailored to me then to a broad audience.

Humor used?
Very little humor, it was more professional.  Some of the programs that they used made you laugh but the presentation was more serious note.

How was the pacing?
He paused and made it not real slow but enough so you can think about what he says and you can analysis the system.

Was there a 'path' through the presentation?
They talked about different programs like scratch that helps kids learn how to code.

Were you engaged or inspired?
Yes, I enjoy programming and like to see kids learn this skill.  It helps them in
